Colorado
is building.

A $1.4 billion water pipeline waited for since 1962, a $1.3 billion airport terminal finale, the $905 million untying of the Floyd Hill bottleneck and a $335 million restoration of the Air Force Academy Chapel headline Colorado's public pipeline.

*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

Coverage note — read this before quoting the tally

15 major public projects are listed. The listed figures sum to $7,863,000,000 (≈$7.86B). No single record dominates: the largest are the Arkansas Valley Conduit (≈$1.4B), the Denver International Airport Great Hall Completion Phase ($1.3B, counted at the current phase only — the completed $770M first phases are not tallied again), I-70 Floyd Hill ($905M) and I-270 ($806M). Bases differ and are labelled on every record: published programme totals, one construction contract (Gross Reservoir, ≈$565M as amended) and final construction cost (Chimney Hollow, $592M). This is a majors list, not a census — CDOT's work programme alone carries hundreds of smaller projects below this page's $10M published-figure threshold.

How the corridor and campus cases were handled: the I-25 North programme is split by segment, as CDOT itself prices it — only Segment 5 (Mead to Berthoud, $415M, building) is listed; Segments 6–8 opened in 2023 and appear below as a prior-year completion. The National Western Center is listed once, for its one currently priced and council-approved element (the ≈$400M Equestrian Center development, still in predevelopment on the city's own page); the campus elements that opened in January 2026 — the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Livestock Center and the Main Campus Plaza — have no separately published cost above threshold and are not listed, and the Western Stock Show Association's Legacy Building (≈$100M, opened January 2026) is a nonprofit owner's build, excluded under the owner rule. No Colorado project on this page is bi-state; the Arkansas Valley Conduit is wholly within Colorado, and the Sentinel missile programme's Colorado work is let under contracts priced outside the state, so no Colorado record is listed for it.

News- and trade-flagged sources: four records rest on reporting of official figures, flagged on their records — the Arkansas Valley Conduit (the District's October 2026 statement, carried by Coyote Gulch; a 2025 House report put the same total at $1.3B, and both figures are disclosed on the record), the Cadet Chapel (Air & Space Forces Magazine, reporting Air Force figures), the National Western Equestrian Center (Denver Post, reporting city presentations putting principal cost at $350–400M) and CSU's ATLAS facility (trade press, reporting the $150M partnership published by CSU). The softest records on the page are the Equestrian Center (a pre-construction estimate range, counted at its $400M top), the Arkansas Valley Conduit (a total that has roughly doubled on paper in five years and may move again) and the Cadet Chapel (a restoration whose budget has already more than doubled, to ≈$335M).

Deliberately excluded: private, nonprofit and co-op builds are excluded under the owner rule — UCHealth and CommonSpirit hospital construction (nonprofit systems), the Western Stock Show Association's Legacy Building, and private utility and data-centre construction among them. Unfunded: the proposed new Denver Broncos stadium (private, no funded public project), Front Range Passenger Rail (no funded construction programme with a published project total) and the Schriever Space Force Base operations facility announced in 2026 at $250M (an announcement of intent, with no contract or appropriated construction programme published) are named here and not listed. Completed in a prior year, however large: the I-25 North Express Lanes Segments 6–8 from Berthoud to Fort Collins (≈$900M programme, opened December 2023), the I-25 South Gap project (completed 2022), Denver's 16th Street Mall reconstruction (reopened 2025), Denver Water's Northwater Treatment Plant (opened 2024) and CSU Spur at the National Western Center (opened 2022–23). Three 2026 completions ARE listed under the current ruling — CSU's Veterinary Health and Education Complex (opened October 2026), CDOT's MAMSIP corridors (completed July 2026) and Chimney Hollow Reservoir (final completion July 24, 2026, after substantial completion on December 19, 2025 — both dates printed on its record).
