Georgia
is building.

A $20 billion airport programme, the largest highway P3 in American history on SR 400, a $1.6 billion reinvention of Savannah's Ocean Terminal, and a new $8.9 billion express-lane build on I-285 headline a public pipeline dominated by GDOT's Major Mobility Investment Program.

*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

Coverage note — read this before quoting the tally

15 major public projects: 9 in metro Atlanta, 3 in Savannah/coastal Georgia, and one each in Macon, Athens and Augusta; GDOT owns 7 of the 15. The listed figures sum to ≈$41.2B, dominated by two programme-scale numbers — ATLNext's $20B programme total and the I-285 East P3's $8.9B construction value — whose bases are labeled on their records so they are never mistaken for single contracts. ATLNext's sub-projects (e.g. Concourse D) are inside its programme total and are NOT listed separately.

Partner and flagged sources: three rows rest on the delivery partners' own publications, flagged 'official-partner' in the data — Jacobs (the airport programme's construction manager) for ATLNext, Ferrovial's newsroom for the I-285 East concession selection, and Parsons for SR 400. Five rows are news-flagged or official releases republished in trade press (I-75 truck lanes, I-285/I-20 East, the Talmadge Bridge raising, UGA's medical building, Campbellton BRT); each record names the underlying official source. The two toll express-lane P3s (I-285 East, SR 400) are classed 'state-partnered' — they are privately financed concessions on public corridors, not ordinary state construction.

Deliberately excluded: private projects of any size (Hyundai's Metaplant, Plant Vogtle, Rivian, private data centres) — out of scope by rule; completed-in-prior-years work (Savannah Harbor Expansion, completed 2022; the 16@95 interchange, substantially complete 2025; Port of Brunswick's $262M Colonel's Island improvements, completed 2024 — its successor work has no published firm cost); and the unfunded Savannah River Crossing replacement study ($1.17B bridge / ~$2B tunnel options, no appropriation on record). The Talmadge Bridge RAISING listed here is funded and distinct from that study.

Softest record: Campbellton BRT's ~$300M and 2028 target date from MARTA's programme documents as of 2023 — More MARTA timelines have slipped repeatedly, the record's notes say so, and the dates should be re-verified against MARTA's current capital programme on the next pass.
