is building.

A $2.7 billion water lifeline for the Las Vegas Valley, a $1.06 billion fighter campus at Nellis, new concourses for Reno-Tahoe, a $600 million convention center renovation finished for CES 2026 and a forensic hospital rising on West Charleston headline Nevada's public pipeline.

*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

Where they are

Coverage note — read this before quoting the tally

13 major public projects are listed. The listed figures sum to $6,518,381,000 (≈$6.52B) — and two records dominate it: SNWA's $2.7B Horizon Lateral water program and the Air Force's $1.057B F-47 Future Campus at Nellis, a draft-solicitation figure flagged on its record as this page's softest. Bases differ and are labelled on every record: program totals, published project totals and one firm contract. This is a majors list, not a census: Nevada's state capital program, NDOT's work program and the valley agencies' capital budgets carry hundreds of smaller projects below this page's $10M published-figure threshold.

The Hoover Dam reservation: Hoover Dam sits on the Nevada–Arizona line, and no Hoover Dam or Lake Mead project is listed here — bi-state Colorado River dam work is reserved for coordination with Arizona's page in a later batch, so it is visibly accounted for rather than forgotten. The I-11 Boulder City Bypass retaining-wall artwork that illustrates Hoover Dam's construction is part of an earlier, completed phase and is likewise not a current record.

Deliberately excluded — private builds, however large: the Las Vegas Strip is mostly private and stays off this page. Named exclusions: the Athletics' Las Vegas ballpark (private club build with public stadium-authority financing), Brightline West high-speed rail (a private railroad, excluded despite federal grants and federally supported bonds), Allegiant Stadium (opened 2020 — a prior-era completion in any case), all casino and resort construction, NV Energy's Greenlink transmission lines (a private utility build), data centers, and the Lennar 'Foundry' housing development on the former Grant Sawyer and Cashman sites (private homes on sold public land). Purchases are not builds: the state's $213.9M purchase of 18 existing McCarran Center office buildings in Las Vegas — the transaction that replaced a Grant Sawyer replacement building — is a real-estate acquisition, not construction, and is named here rather than listed; its follow-on tenant-improvement program (≈$70.9M) had no clean published project record of its own at verification.

Completed in a prior year, however large: the I-15/Tropicana interchange in Las Vegas; the Las Vegas Convention Center's $1B West Hall (opened 2021); the City of Las Vegas Civic Center ($165–190M, buildings completed December 2024–March 2025); UNR's John Tulloch Business Building ($155M, opened August 2025); UNLV's Kirk Kerkorian Medical Education Building ($150M, opened 2022) and Advanced Engineering Building ($73M, opened February 2024); UMC's $60M campus revitalization (substantially complete May 2025, with a further $45.77M hospital bond authorized in 2026 but no published project list to list); NDOT's Pyramid Highway Phase 1 ($66M, substantially complete summer 2025), U.S. 395 North Valleys Phase 1 (≈$230M, scheduled late 2025) and the Reno Spaghetti Bowl Xpress first phase ($223M). Unfunded or unpriced planning, named not listed: the Harry Reid International Airport modernization programme (terminal reconfiguration toward an estimated 65 gates — no published price or timeline), the Ivanpah Valley supplemental airport (long-range planning, at least a decade out), later Pyramid Highway and Spaghetti Bowl phases, and DOE Nevada National Security Site construction, for which no published project figures could be verified. One 2026 completion IS listed under the current ruling — the Convention Center legacy renovation (January 2026) — and the Maryland Parkway RED LINE, whose service began August 23, 2026, is carried as under-construction because RTC states about four miles of roadway work continue.
