A $360 million sewer tunnel under Manchester, a $306 million rebuild of its schools, a $263 million turnpike widening and a $169 million middle school in Concord headline the public pipeline of the nation's fifth-smallest state.
*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

13 major public projects are listed. The listed figures sum to $1,564,130,118 (≈$1.6B) — a majors list for a state of 1.4 million people, dominated by two Manchester municipal programmes (a $360M sewer-overflow tunnel and a $306M school programme) that together outweigh every state highway project on the page. Bases differ and are labelled on every record — most are total cost estimates; Nashua's DPW garage and the Hampstead youth centre are printed at their committed funding (a bond authorisation and an appropriation), and Portsmouth's marine terminal at the authority's published bid price limit.
Border handling: the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge and the I-95 Piscataqua River Bridge are Maine–New Hampshire crossings assigned to Maine's page — they are not listed here, and any shared crossing Maine lists is counted once on Maine's page at the published total, with shares disclosed there. Connecticut River (VT–NH) crossings run the same rule in the other direction: the Lebanon–Hartford I-89 bridges are NHDOT-led, so they are listed once on this page at the published $43M project total (contractor R.S. Audley; completing November 2026), with Vermont's share disclosed on the record and Vermont's page carrying a pointer only. The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is in Kittery, Maine, and appears, if anywhere, on Maine's page.
News-flagged sources: several rows rest on news reporting of official figures, flagged on their records — the Cemetery Brook tunnel cost (Ink Link, city figures, October 2026), Exit 4A's $161.3M (Londonderry Times, NHDOT figures), the Portsmouth civic complex (Seacoastonline, JSA/city figures), the Market Street terminal (WorkBoat, PDA figures), the Nashua bond (Nashua Ink Link) and the Hampstead centre (Union Leader via GovTech). The forensic hospital's $43M is the governor's figure, carried on a record whose halt and $9.9M remediation settlement rest on the official fiscal item FIS 25-282. The softest records are the Portsmouth civic complex (a design-stage estimate for a phased programme whose construction money is mostly unappropriated) and the Grafton County fibre build (sourced kickoff, thin progress reporting) — both say so on their records.
Deliberately excluded: the I-93 Bow–Concord widening (latest estimate ≈$370M — engineering is funded but construction funding is NOT in NHDOT's draft 2027–2036 Ten Year Plan; excluded as unfunded-for-construction) and the I-293 Exits 6 & 7 rebuild in Manchester (≈$275M, advanced by GACIT with no funding in place) — both named here rather than listed. The Capitol Corridor passenger-rail project (Boston–Concord) is an unfunded study and is excluded. The Sullivan County courthouse ($32M) and Salem circuit courthouse ($23M) are agency budget requests only (2026 hearings), not funded projects. Checked and below the $10M floor or unpriced: the Pease airport arrivals hall ($7M federal grant published; no total over the floor verified), the Pease control tower ($5.7M), and every NH National Guard item found (each $7.7M–$9M). Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Health and Manchester's Elliot Hospital are private and excluded by the owner rule. Completed in a prior year, however large: UNH's Spaulding Hall expansion ($95.5M, completed 2024), Nashua's McCarthy Middle School ($92M programme school, opened August 2024), Plymouth State's Hyde Hall renovation ($38M, completed 2025) and Manchester airport's Runway 17/35 Phase III rehabilitation ($18.6M, certified complete June 2025). No New Hampshire major was verified as completed or opened earlier in 2026 at or above the floor — the I-89 Connecticut River bridges (above) finish in November 2026 and are bi-state.
