A $1.815 billion replacement for the Blatnik Bridge at Superior, a $1.71 billion rebuild of I-94 across Milwaukee, a $3.7 billion Madison-to-Wisconsin-Dells interstate corridor now in design, and a $419.8 million engineering centre rising at UW–Madison headline Wisconsin's public pipeline.
*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

18 major public projects: 5 in Madison, 4 in Milwaukee, 2 at Fort McCoy, 2 in the Fox Valley / Green Bay area, plus Eau Claire, Menomonie, Appleton and Superior. The listed figures sum to ≈$11.3B. One record is a BI-STATE total, listed once and labelled as such: the Blatnik Bridge replacement (≈$1.815B — $1.058B federal, ≈$400M from Minnesota and ≈$400M from Wisconsin). Minnesota has no page yet, so the total has not been halved or held back for a second listing, and it should not be read as Wisconsin-only spending. Wisconsin's inventory is majors-heavy — three interstate programmes and the bridge alone account for most of the tally — because those are the public builds with published figures above the $10M floor that could be verified; smaller city and county work below that standard is not listed.
How the big programmes are counted: the I-39/90/94 corridor is listed at its published $3.7B total estimate with status DESIGN — it is enumerated in the 2025–27 budget and in funded design, but mainline construction is not yet funded in full, and a February 2026 WisDOT report carries ≈$4.9B inflated to completion. The same honesty applies in Milwaukee County, where the courthouse complex is listed at the county's ≈$896.6M conceptual-design projection with only ≈$54.5M of design funding actually appropriated, and at UW–Milwaukee, where the health sciences renovation is pre-construction after a rejected bid round. At Appleton airport only the $92M programme total is tallied (the concourse phase alone was $66–$70M), at the Port of Green Bay only the $44.1M development-site figure (against $53–$54M accumulated for the wider expansion), and the I-535/US-53 approaches and Wisconsin River bridge early works are folded into the Blatnik and I-39/90/94 records rather than double-listed.
News-flagged sources: eleven rows rest on news or trade-press reporting of official figures, flagged 'news-flagged' in the data — the Blatnik groundbreaking (CEG), the I-39/90/94 design award and I-41 and UWM contracting (Daily Reporter), the I-94 East-West revised estimate (Daily Reporter, from WisDOT's report to the Transportation Projects Commission), the Wisconsin History Center (Finance & Commerce), both UW Health hospital projects (Becker's), the MKE Concourse E groundbreaking (BizTimes), the Fort McCoy officers quarters (USACE updates via EIN Presswire) and the Port of Green Bay site (Press-Gazette). Each record names the underlying official source. The softest records on the page are the I-39/90/94 total (a 2024 planning estimate for a design-stage programme) and the Milwaukee County courthouse projection (a conceptual-design figure that doubled in July 2026, with construction unfunded) — both are labelled as such on their records.
Deliberately excluded: projects completed in a prior year, however large — the I-43 North-South Freeway expansion, Glendale to Grafton ($550M, completed 2025), the Baird Center expansion in Milwaukee (opened May 2024), UW Health's Eastpark Medical Center ($465M, opened October 2024), Dane County Regional Airport's South Terminal expansion ($85M, completed 2023), Green Bay Austin Straubel's terminal improvements ($12.3M, completed March 2025), Fort McCoy's South Barracks ($28.08M, completed October 2025), the Zoo Interchange (2018) and the I-39/90 Rock County rebuild (2021). Also excluded as private, however large: the Foxconn campus in Mount Pleasant, the Microsoft, Meta and Vantage data centres, the Milwaukee Public Museum's new museum ($240M, private nonprofit) and private health-system builds — out of scope by rule. No verified termination was found among Wisconsin's majors in this cycle.
