A $500 million Interstate interchange in design at Cheyenne, the University of Wyoming's $285.5 million residence halls, a $118 million bridge in Yellowstone and the first Sentinel missile complex at F.E. Warren AFB headline a short, honest Wyoming list.
*How to read the total: the sum of the published figures in the list below. Bases differ by project — most are total cost estimates, some are federal grants, program totals, or construction contracts as awarded. Each project's expanded view labels its own basis. We add them up with the labels showing rather than pretend they're all the same kind of number.

12 major public projects are listed — a short list, stated plainly: Wyoming is the least populous state, it builds less than larger states, and it publishes less, so an honest majors list here is smaller. The listed figures sum to $1,147,424,149 (≈$1.15B), and two listed federal park-road projects (the Yellowstone North Entrance Road, $200M–$250M range, and Grand Teton's Moose-Wilson / Teton Park Road, $20M–$30M range) carry published ranges only, so they are counted as projects but contribute no dollars to the total. Bases differ and are labelled on every record: awarded contracts, published totals, an adjusted university budget and one design-stage estimate. WYDOT's wider programme is mostly lettings below this page's $10M published-figure threshold — three Transportation Commission contract awards are listed because they clear it.
Two 2026 completions are listed under the current ruling — UW's North & South Residence Halls (South Hall opened spring 2026; $285.5M) and the Casper–Natrona County Health Department building (opened February 2026; $31.6M). The Yellowstone River Bridge is carried as under construction because its final phase runs through 2026 even though the new bridge opened in November 2025. Completed in a prior year, however large, and therefore excluded: the Snake River Bridge & WY-22/WY-390 interchange, Jackson ($62M — substantially complete and opened in final configuration June 30, 2025), the WY-22 Teton Pass 'Big Fill' permanent reconstruction after the June 2024 landslide ($43M — completed June 30, 2025; the 2024 emergency detour is not a separate record), UW's War Memorial Stadium West Stands renovation (Restore the War; $84.9M budget — completed for the September 2025 season), Sublette County Hospital at Pinedale ($73.8M — opened August 4, 2025, ending the county's century without a hospital), the Conti Federal helicopter & tactical response force complex at F.E. Warren AFB ($140.9M contract — completion April 2025), UW's Science Initiative Building ($100M — opened March 2022), the Wyoming State Hospital rebuild at Evanston ($74M contract) and the Wyoming Life Resource Center rebuild at Lander ($75M contract), both completed in the early 2020s, the Cheyenne Capitol Square / state office projects of 2019–2023, and Jackson Hole Airport's runway reconstruction (2022).
Deliberately excluded under the owner rule (private builds, named): TerraPower's Natrium advanced reactor demonstration at Kemmerer — private, notwithstanding its federal DOE cost-share — is the state's largest construction story and is not listed; so are Basin Electric Power Cooperative (co-op) projects, private mining and energy builds, and private hospitals. Two community hospital builds fall on the private side of the line and are named rather than listed: the Riverton Medical District hospital (a community nonprofit; $37.1M USDA loan plus $15M in facilitated federal grants toward an ≈$53M project, under construction for a late-2026 opening) and the Platte Valley Healthcare Project at Saratoga (nonprofit; $18.3M USDA loan). The F.E. Warren Sentinel programme is listed only where a published awarded construction contract exists (the $63.5M Missile Handling Complex); the programme's $141B national estimate and the Air Force's FY2027 request for $632M of further Warren construction are not project totals and are not counted.
Softest records and honest gaps: the three WYDOT contract records rest on trade-press reporting (Construction Equipment Guide) of Transportation Commission awards, flagged on their records; the WY-59 record is resurfacing-led. No Bureau of Reclamation Wyoming project (Pathfinder, Fontenelle, Flaming Gorge, Seminoe) has a priced current phase above threshold that we could verify — the Fontenelle Reservoir expansion is authorized in principle with the state to fund design and construction, but no published project cost exists, so no Reclamation record is listed. Wyoming's state-penitentiary and corrections capital work likewise published no project total above threshold. The City of Casper's phased conversion of the Casper Business Center into a police headquarters (≈$6.2M spent on Phase 1, $14.7M Phase 2, $17M–$19M Phase 3) has no single published project total and is named here rather than listed. Emergency repairs to the I-80 Green River tunnels after the February 2025 fire remain phased and unpriced as a single project.
